Our Story
The most difficult part of recovering from a disaster often isn’t the lack of resources, but the complexity of accessing them.
While every fire is devastating, isolated residential fires create a unique kind of isolation. Unlike large-scale disasters that trigger federal aid, a single house fire is a quiet crisis. When the sirens fade and the community moves on, families face the "72-Hour Cliff"—the sudden drop-off where emergency support subsides and the long road of recovery begins.
Support exists, but it is fragmented. Trying to piece together a safety net while processing trauma creates a heavy mental burden. The difficulty in finding help isn't a lack of resilience; it is the result of a system that is overwhelming exactly when stability is needed most.
We exist to restore control. We don’t replace the network of relief agencies; we make it navigable. By filtering the noise and simplifying the resources, we give survivors the structured path they need to lead their own journey back to a sense of home.

We are the Second Responders.
The Gathered Home Collective is a survivor-led, trauma-informed disaster recovery hub ensuring that when a residential fire upends life, the path forward isn’t left to chance.
While crucial resources exist, they are often buried under a flood of information and red tape. We act as the bridge, guiding survivors through that complexity by providing a tangible, grounded foundation for recovery.
We replace the chaos of scattered paperwork with a fireproof command center, and the anxiety of the unknown with a strategic workbook. By countering the sterility of a temporary room with sensory warmth, we help restore a sense of normalcy and control.
We offer handles, not handouts.
Our goal is to clear the mental clutter so you can focus on the future—empowering you to navigate this journey with autonomy and clarity. -
As a central hub for disaster recovery, we deliver practical trauma-informed solutions that empower survivors to regain stability, control, and clarity on their journey to rebuilding.
-
A world where no fire survivor is left in the gap between crisis and long-term disaster recovery.
-
Dignity is Foundational: Every survivor deserves respect, understanding, empathy, and privacy—without exception.
Belonging is Essential: Disaster recovery should never feel isolated. We create offerings that foster connection, offer comfort, and remind survivors they are not alone.
Guidance with Respect: We believe survivors deserve access to trauma-informed resources that guide and empower them to make the best decisions for their unique circumstances.
Design is a Form of Care: We approach every detail with intention—believing that beauty, warmth, functionality, and emotional resonance can help restore a sense of home and hope.
Partnership is Purposeful: We build relationships rooted in shared values—community, equity, and collective care. Our partners help extend impact with integrity, trust, and a commitment to survivor-centered recovery.
-
Recovery Requires Both Head and Heart. Traditional disaster relief often focuses on survival: food, water, and shelter. We believe true recovery requires more. It demands a dual approach that addresses both the logistical complexity and the emotional weight of the experience.
The Head (Command Center): We provide the tactical tools to manage the "business of recovery." By organizing the flood of paperwork and decisions, we lift the mental burden, allowing survivors to advocate for themselves with confidence.
The Heart (Sanctuary): We provide the sensory tools to soothe the trauma response. By restoring a sense of sanctuary, comfort, and order to temporary spaces, we create a physical environment where it is safe to rest and heal.

From Survivor to Solution
Surviving a house fire changed everything. What followed wasn't just a loss of property; it was a loss of footing. I realized that while there were systems to put out the fire, there were few guides to help a family put their life back together.
My experience revealed a critical truth: recovery requires more than just logistics. It requires connection.
I felt called to create what I wished I had—support that felt personal, protective, and grounded in care. I designed our kits to meet families in their most vulnerable moments. A soft blanket for a sterile room. Calming aromatherapy for a restless night. These aren't just items; they are anchors of normalcy when everything else feels adrift.
The Gathered Home Collective exists to ensure recovery isn’t left to chance. We are here to transform the confusion of the aftermath into a path of clarity, meeting every survivor with dignity, belonging, and the steady assurance that they do not have to walk this road alone.
