Leadership

Lavelle Denise Wilson
Founder & Executive Director

As a survivor of a residential fire, Lavelle experienced firsthand the "quiet crisis" that follows the sirens. She found herself navigating a complex web of insurance claims and displacement while trying to process the loss of her home. She founded The Gathered Home Collective to be the "Second Response" she wished she had.

Lavelle brings over a decade of corporate leadership experience to the non-profit sector. As a former Strategic Program Manager for major enterprises like Nationwide and LBrands, she specialized in architecting operational frameworks and translating complex strategies into flawless execution. She leverages this expertise to treat disaster recovery not just as an emotional journey, but as an operational challenge that can be solved with the right systems.

Currently pursuing her Master of Arts in Nonprofit Leadership and Management at Johns Hopkins University, Lavelle combines her lived experience with academic rigor. Her passion focuses on Trauma-Informed Design and disaster recovery, ensuring that survivors receive support that addresses both the logistical complexity (The Head) and the emotional weight (The Heart) of displacement.

Lavelle is dedicated to ensuring that no family navigates the gap alone. By merging high-level strategy with deep human empathy, she has built an organization that restores dignity, agency, and sanctuary.
